Tonight She’s Got Some Plans of Her Own
By Dallas Denny
She waits by the window
With a lump in her throat
Her man is gone another night
She holds the crumpled note
Many nights she’s sat there
For her man to come back home
But tonight she’s got some plans of her own
I met her in a barroom
She was a vision dressed in lace
And I could hardly wait to kiss
The makeup from her face
“I got tired of waiting”
Are the words she said to me
As I helped her to my car
And asked her whose place should it be
“I got tired of waiting”
Are the words she said to me
And the nagging doubt she planted in me grows
‘Cause I got a woman of my own
At home, waiting
And I wish I knew why
She don’t answer the phone
She waits by the window
With a lump in her throat
Her man is gone another night
She holds the crumpled note
Many nights she’s sat there
For her man to come back home
But tonight she’s got some plans of her own
